Products can specify which Shipping Methods to use using Shipping Groups however because more than one product can be in the cart, the split shipping/split order functionality has to be used as there can only be one ship method per order. When set up correctly the product that is connected to a shipping group will mean that the user will only see the shipping methods associated with that group. If a product is set to a group that is not linked to any shipping method, all methods will display and the group is ignored.
Go to the company shipping set up page. There is a tab 'Shipping Groups'.
Click on 'Add new shipping product group'.
Click on 'Link Groups to Products'.
Select the product(s) you want to link to a shipping group.
Select the group from the drop down on the right.
Click on 'Update Selected Products'.
Click on the shipping tab in the top menu.
Use the pencil icon to edit the shipping method that you want to use for a specific group.
Select the group from the 'Shipping Group' drop down.
Click on save.
Note The shipping group can also be set in product advanced in the Shipping Charges Exemptions section.
IMPORTANT: In company advanced in the order related section, the following shipping settings must be checked unless you are using Alternate Shipping in which case the last 2 don't need to be checked.
Split Shipping
Force Split Shipping
Allow Shipping Address selection by Job
Allow Shipping Method selection by Job
