UPS Auto Calculation
If you would like to use UPS's auto rate calculation to calculate the shipping cost between the producer account and the user's ship to address you need to make sure of the following.
Firstly, depending on the country of origin, namely, the producer account's address, the company's unit of weight must be set correctly.
If the producer's account address is in the US then Pounds must be used.
If the producer's account address is in the UK then Kilograms must be used.
If the producer's account address is in Canada then either can be used.
To set the company's proper unit of weight, in the backend go to Manage Companies, select the desired company -> then go to More ->Defaults. On the Default's page set the Weight Unit to lb or kg depending on the orgin of the package as set in the Producer profile under Manage Producer.
Once that is set go to Manage Companies -> Select the desired company -> Shipping.
Shipping Method: This is what the user will see.
Price: A flat rate price you like to add on top of what is returned by UPS.
First: Add a price to the first item in the cart.
Other: Add an additional price to any other item added to cart.
Calc Method: Use the default
Shipping: Select UPS
Auto Calc: You must check this in order for auto calculation to work.
Click insert or update
On the main shipping page you will now see a blue icon on the right (Edit shipper options), select it.
These are the available options for the end user. You may select multiple or you can also set multiple shipping options for each one of the services you want to use.
Please test each of the options on your site before you go live. Ground and Standard each work differently depending on the origin and the ship to locations. As well, some options work only in the US while others work better outside. Please test all the permutations.
Please Note: In order to use the automated shipping calculator each of your products must have a weight.
