Modified on Tue, Dec 12, 2023 at 5:56 PM

This is for restricting product quantities ordered by users. It can be set for specific products or users or time periods.

To use this, go to Edit Company then from Options, select Quantity Limit Settings under the Quantity Limit By User settings, as shown below.

To have this work without setting specific products or users:

Go to the Quantity Limit settings page. Set to Active. Set Use User’s Classification Max Qty when Product is not Set. Then Save. 'By Order' is the default period.

Go the Classification tab and add a classification name and set max quantity.

Go the Users tab and set All Users Default Classification. Then Save.

If you would like to limit all products combined then use Set Maximum Total Quantity Allowed of all Products Combined per User.  When this is set it is not necessary to use Use User’s Classification Max Qty when Product is not Set

If you would like to set specific products or users or time periods then please read the full article below.

Settings are by Company level.

Settings page

  • On the Settings page check off Active to Activate Quantity Limit By User
  • Select Period Type
    1. By Order: all calculations are based on the current order, no order history is taken into consideration.
    2. By Date – Start of Date: (Where Date can be Day, Week, Month, Quarter, Year) resets the time and date to the start of Date. For example, if By Day is selected and the Period is set to 1 then the limit is applied to the start of the same day (12:00:00AM) till (11:59:59PM).  If period is set to 2, that means it will go back 2 days). By Month, the start date would be always the first of the month at 12:00:00AM. Calculation is based on Items in Cart, Current Product and Order History during the set period.
    3. By Date – Not using Start of xx - First Order: goes back (from current date and time) the set Period. A By Day option will check the current cart plus Order History 24hrs ago (if Period is 1). If period is 2, that means it will go back 2 days (48 hours).
    4. By Custom date - Use today's date to not count previous orders. Note: With the custom date setting there is no time period other than the date. The users will not be able to order more than the limit until you reset the date.

Enter Period. By Default, this is reset to 0 for By Order option, set to any positive period for the By Date options. These settings will stop users from Adding To Cart, Moving past the Checkout page and Placing the Order. But, if Allow Exceeding Quantity Limit and Notify is checked then the user will be allowed to place the order and the producer as well as additional email addresses will be notified.
  • When Allow Exceeding Quantity Limit If Paid by Credit Card is checked then the order can only be placed if payment type is Credit Card.
  • Check off Use User’s Classification Max Qty when Product is not Set to assign a default classification to all non-assigned products. Note: If this is not checked then products must be individually set.
  • Set Maximum Total Quantity Allowed of all Products Combined per User is a special case to calculate ALL products quantities in cart combined and compare them with one maximum value defined for each Classification.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Classification Page

  • The Classification tab is to define any number of classifications by Company.
  • Max Qty column is only used when using All Users Default Classification (on Users tab) or when the Max Qty of a User Classification for a product is set to 0.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Products Page

  • The Products tab is used to define a Max Qty for each Product / Classification. This page is ignored if Set All Products to Same Total By User is checked off.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Users Page

  • The Users tab is used to assign users to a classification. A default classification can be set to all non-assigned users or a classification can be applied to selected users.  A user’s classification can also be set from the manage user page (backend). Note: A classification MUST be set using either All Users Default Classification or set an individual user’s classification in order for the quantities to be limited.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Quantity Limit is ‘Active’ and the user tries to add a restricted quantity to cart, a message will be displayed and the user cannot add to cart.

The same applies when users try to change quantities at Checkout.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When using Allow Exceeding Quantity Limit and Notify, use the Email section (Settings page) to setup the Template and assign email addresses to notify (comma separated) in addition to the Producer’s Email (Default).
