Block Master - Multiple Selections ?

Modified on Thu, Feb 15, 2018 at 10:11 AM

Introduction

The Master Block allows the end user to enter information once and select which products to apply it to. Upon pressing preview the end user will preview all the selected products as one pdf, however, when added to cart it will create a separate job item for each product selected.

Part 1: Creating the individual block products

The first step is to create the individual block products. When creating the products it is a good idea to know in advance how each product will work. The key when creating each block is to know if in fact the exact same block will be used in a different product.

In our example, the block field Address is used in exactly the same way in all three products (Business Card, Letterhead and Envelope), therefore, that block will appear in all three products, no other Address block is necessary.

The block field City State Zip in our Envelope sample uses a prefix of <nextline>, however, our Letterhead product does not use <nextline> since it is being used in a Place Function. Since Block field City State Zip is used differently in Business Card/Envelope and Envelope City State Zip must be used as its simplest form that is common to all products, the products that require <nextline> must create another block to embed City State Zip using the paragraph function and use <nextline> in a prefix.

Go through each of the blocks using the same technique.

Part 2

Upload each of the three templates as independent block products.

Run each product to make sure each one previews properly.

Part 3

Create the master block product by selecting Master Block as the product type.

Go to the Block Master tab and select Multiple Product Selection. Choose the three products that we uploaded and move them to the Selected Products Column.

Go to the custom tab to see all the unique Blocks that are created from each of the previously selected products. Run the product.

Attached are the 3 sample business cards used in the example.
